Hearing
If you have both Meniere’s disease (an ear disorder) and high blood pressure, ask your doctor about taking a diuretic, which can help fight both.


Medication
Older adults need to be especially careful of the dangers of polypharmacy—taking multiple medications. Ask your doctors what drugs in your regimen might be replaced or eliminated.


Your senses
If you’re not enjoying your food as much, have your sense of smell checked. Defects in smell are what actually cause many older adults to lose their taste capabilities.


Alternative therapies
Acupuncture may help you fight pain…but don’t use forms that provide electrical stimulation if you have a pacemaker.
